Hi Angus. There are three supermarkets in Val Thorens which are too close to call which is bigger, there really isn’t much in it. One is down in Temple, the Spa in the centre of town by Sports Centre and the Sherpa just above the Church. Timing is everything, if you want fresh fruit and veg get there before people come off the slopes. Shops get busy around 4.30pm. We hope this helps.
Hi Bob. There are 8 Black pistes in Val Thorens/Orelle ski area, 14 in the whole Belleville valley and 30 through-out the 3 valleys. In the same order: Red runs- 26, 51, 108. Blue runs- 28, 60, 129. Green runs- 10, 20, 44.
Great questions Claire. You obviously know that Val Thorens is a mecca for Marmottes. You can often see them from April onwards after the lifts have closed. There is a family of Marmottes that live just off the edge of the piste on the left as you ski down from the top of Deux Lacs lift. They make a whistle to communicate so if you can see them you might hear them. As for how many, there are 8941 on our last count.
Hi Ben. We think either at the top end of the resort around Le Roc de Peclet apartments. They are right on the piste, near to the bars but not too near. Hope this helps.
Hi Louise. There are plenty of things to do in Val Thorens if you don’t ski. Val Thorens has a special pass which gains you access to lots of the places. Click here for more information.
Hi Geoff. You can only park your car on the road in the resort on the weekends. The police are very strict and will tow your car away if you park more than 1 hour in week. We have lots of information about parking in Val Thorens on our parking page.
Tim, I will answer this assuming you are old enough to drink. Then the parties are in the bars and clubs, check out The Frog and Roastbeef and Snesno. More info on our Bars page.
Hi. Yes you can, anyone over the age of 75 year old or younger than 6 years old can get a discount.
Yes we think it is really good, try and get a group of you together to do it. What we do is when one of us gets out in the lead he/she would stop at the next top of a hill to re-group. Then we would start again, it’s like many little races.
Hi Pete. It’s a little different to the UK, you can drink Beer and Wine if you are older than 16 years old. Everything else you will need to be 18 years old. You can even drink even younger than 16 years old if you parents are with you, however you should clear it with the bar/restaurant owner first.
