Val Thorens Resort Facilities

Val Thorens is not just about Skiing and Snowboarding there are lots to do which don’t involve you to get on the snow. We have used our vast knowledge of the resort and given you the low down on each.

Cinema

A nice little cinema based in the middle of the resort, a real old style cinema unlike the modern multi-screen cinema in the UK. They show up to date movies both in French and English. You can pickup a movie listing from the Tourist Office.

Bowling

A new bowling alley was made a few years ago and still looks like new. They have some great live bands around 6pm and worth a look. They have an internet café there too.

Sport Centre

Val Thorens has a very good sport centre which has main swimming pool, a big Jacuzzi and two smaller Jacuzzis. It also has a steam room and several saunas. It also has the standard sports of basketball, 5-a-side football (competitions are arranged), table tennis and a kids area with ball-pits and climbing frames.

Spa

There are several Spas in Val Thorens, one in Sport Centre, one at the bottom of the resort and the at the top end of the resort. The newest and the one we recommend is La Spa at the top end of the resort, click here for their website. There of course a spa in many of the Hotels in the resort.

Ski Doo

If you fancy getting out onto the snow but with the power of an engine under you why not try Ski Dooing. More information can be found on our Ski Doo page.

Toboggan

Val Thorens has the longest Toboggan in France, and is really good fun and not to be missed. See our Toboggan page for more information.

Internet

There are many places to get free WiFi, most bars and cafés offer the service. The Frog and Roastbeef is the English bar of the resort which offers free WiFi. See our Internet page for more info.

Supermarkets

There are several supermarkets in the resort so it doesn’t matter where you stay you will not be too far away from one.

Paragliding

As with many ski resorts Val Thorens also has the option to go Paragliding. If you are not sure what Paragliding is, it is basically parachuting with skis on.

Show Shoe Walking

A gentle way to see the mountain views. These can last for a few hours or the whole day. Most Ski schools offer this service.
